Save the Nut!

I call this Save the Nut.

This was entered in the September theme "Twisted Room" on the Gnomon forums.

I challenged myself by asking what a twisted room would look like from the perspective of a squirrel.

That was hard until I realized that squirrels are known to chew on wires, causing power outages and committing an accidental suicide. They get confused from the sound of it.

Then I read that they took out Nasdaq a couple times.

So I figured that I would make a room full of wires. Where this takes place is at Wall Street behind one of those computer monitors that display all the stock information. I don't think there is an actual room behind one of those monitors, but I had to make a room because that's part of the theme. So I flipped all the numbers and letters around to show that it's all inside.

I figured that a room full of wires made logical sense from the perspective of a squirrel. All the twisting and tangling and stuff.

I also figured that I should give the squirrels a reason to be in the room and that's to capture and rescue a nut.

I also thought of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so I dressed them up as ninjas. I decided to throw in an enemy too. The evil bunny rabbits. Dark creatures with glowing eyes of evil.

So the story goes like this.

The evil bunny rabbits kidnapped a nut and are holding it hostage in a deadly area located at Wall Street that if the squirrels are not careful, they can cause corruption and possibly die. If mission is a failure, squirrels fry, the nut explode, rabbits laugh, people lose power, and $700 billion is lost.

...Yeah

Phoenix

It's a Phoenix rising from the sun.

The phoenix was made with some custom made brushes and all I really did was splattered it on. Some interesting shapes were created so I worked on the shapes some.

The solar flare was done by taking a custom made brush using the colors red, orange, and yellow, all on one layer, streatching and distorting it, some copying, pasting, and fliping, and then using liquify to make it more rounded. I like how it turned out too. I'll have to use this for other paintings.
